Our client's garden is surrounded by a woodland of mature trees - oaks, sycamore and ash - that they also own. It seemed such a shame that the woods were separate from their outside space so we took down the fences and built a cantilevered deck, out into the air! This was bordered with a bespoke metal balustrade, with waved tops to reflect the shape of the surrounding trees and painted dark green. This has hugely increased the size of the garden. We've also built a new patio with an outdoor kitchen and separated off the other end of the garden with a summerhouse. This summerhouse garden has a small boardwalk and a water feature, creating a completely different seating area. Seating and a woodburning stove means the summerhouse can be used all year, and another section has been furnished as a gym. Despite being set in woodland, we brought in a large number of ornamental trees to add blossom and autumn colour to the indigenous woodland specimens.
